Blank and Block

Problem

Most creative software optimizes for infinite possibility: blank canvases, unlimited options, endless feeds of reference. In practice, structure is often what helps people actually make things — constraints, formats, and digital objects with clear edges and clear uses.

What it does

Blank and Block is a design-forward product exploring structured creativity, identity, and useful digital objects. It is at the concept stage, which means the design questions — what the objects are, who they are for, why they would matter — are being worked out before any serious code is written.

Why it matters

The lab believes digital objects can be made with the same care as physical ones: designed, bounded, and useful rather than infinite and disposable. Whether that conviction becomes a product is exactly what the concept stage is for.
