CLEDocket

Live

CLE compliance tracking for attorneys who want a clearer docket for continuing legal education obligations.

Problem

Attorneys are required to complete continuing legal education on cycles that vary by jurisdiction: different credit totals, different categories, different ethics minimums, different carryover rules, different reporting deadlines. In practice the tracking lives in spreadsheets, inbox certificate PDFs, and memory — and for lawyers admitted in more than one state, several compliance clocks run at once. Getting it wrong ranges from late fees to administrative suspension.

What it does

CLEDocket treats CLE obligations the way attorneys already treat deadlines: as a docket. An attorney adds each jurisdiction of admission, and the hours, categories, reporting period, and deadline come built in. Each course takes about a minute to log by hand: title, provider, date, hours, and category. From there, CLEDocket shows the hours remaining in each category and the days left before the deadline.

  • Several jurisdictions, one account: each is tracked separately, with its own period, categories, and deadline.
  • Compliance log: a printable record for any period, listing every course with its provider, date, hours, and category.
  • Certificates: each course’s certificate can be attached to its entry, so the record and the proof stay together.
  • Firm workspace: a firm can see its attorneys’ status and upcoming deadlines in one place, and each attorney decides what to share.

Records are private to the attorney’s account. CLEDocket is an independent tool, not legal advice, and it is not affiliated with any state bar. Attorneys still report through their bar and remain responsible for their own compliance.

Why it matters

CLE compliance is a small recurring tax on attention with a disproportionate downside. A tool with one clear job reduces both the risk and the background stress, and it leaves a clean record ready if a bar ever asks to see one. It is also a fair test of the lab’s broader thesis: practical legal software that carries clerical burden for attorneys instead of trying to replace their judgment.

Current status

Live — publicly available at cledocket.com and free during beta. California, Indiana, Louisiana, Oregon, and Texas are supported today, and more jurisdictions are being added. As a beta, it may still have incomplete features, and course entry is manual for now.

Collaborate

CLEDocket is being refined around what working attorneys run into. If you track CLE in a jurisdiction it doesn’t cover yet, manage compliance for a firm, or work in CLE or bar compliance, the lab wants to hear from you.
